Kurtcu’s Star Trek Discussion at Ku Day Ta

Date: July 13, 2009
By: Karuna Di Maria

Ku Day Ta hosted Lieutenant Commander, Wanda Kurtcu, a Professor of the Starfleet Academy, on Sunday the 28th of June. Kurtcu is the author of the episode “A Matter of Honor” written for Star Trek: The Next Generation! Her straight job is teaching Middle School computer applications and programming classes, however her universe of choice is Star Trek.

Kurtcu is a wife and mother and is owned by two cats and two lizards. When she is not playing her many other roles she is also an apprentice drummer of Wadaiko Newark, a school for that art of Taiko. An avid fan of Star Trek since age twelve, Kurtcu declared she would watch the series for the rest of her life, and so far she has.

On that Sunday Kurtcu, dressed in full regalia, led a lively discussion on Star Trek lore and philosophy. Wearing a black and blue uniform she looked as if she had just stepped off the star trek enterprise. Sipping signature Ku Day Ta iced teas, Kurtcu and her audience enjoyed discussing Star Trek and its many generations.

A perfect place to be on a hot summer’s day, this unique and tranquil tea lounge has become a meeting place for the community. Wanda Kurtcu’s discussion was just one of many events that will be featured by Ku Day Ta, so please stay tuned!
